Services Provided: Water Damage Restoration
Application: Residential
A homeowner in Wylie called us after their washing machine overflowed, sending water into four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and the kitchen. We performed a full assessment and discovered that water had soaked into carpets, padding, baseboards, wall cavities (wet insulation), and drywall in multiple rooms.
Isolated the source (washing machine overflow) and shut off the water flow.
Removed standing water through extraction, paying special attention to carpeted areas in all four bedrooms and water pooled in kitchens and baths.
Used moisture meters and infrared scanners to detect hidden water in walls and insulation.
Removed carpet and its padding in affected rooms to reduce the risk of microbial growth.
Cut out sections of drywall where the insulation inside the walls was wet beyond salvage. Removed wet insulation carefully, ensuring no untreated moisture remained.
Set up structural drying equipment: air movers, dehumidifiers, and drying mats as needed to pull moisture out of framing and structural materials.
Once drying metrics (moisture in wood studs, drywall, subfloor) hit acceptable levels, reinstalled drywall where needed, replaced insulation, and installed new carpet (if required).
Sanitized areas to prevent odor and microbial growth, especially in formerly wet cavities.
Provided homeowner with advice on maintenance and appliance safety (e.g., checking hoses, ensuring overflow prevention) to help avoid similar future incidents.
